Tuk Tuk Tour Bentota

Travellers will be picked up from the hotel in Bentota in the morning (8-9am) and visit a historical Temple of “Kande Viharaya”. This sacred place was founded by Venerable Karapagala Dewamitta Thero in about 1734.

Thereafter customers will visit Turtle Conservation centre, sadly turtle eggs are still eaten in Sri Lanka so supporting the Kosgoda Conservation Centres is very worthwhile. The projects encourage local fishermen to sell turtle eggs to the centre where they can hatch under safe conditions and be released back into the ocean.

Refresh with a King Coconut drink, some local snacks and drive to visit Moonstone mine, where guests can witness the mining process and Jewelry making process.

Stops in Hikkaduwa beach for lunch (Sri Lankan, western and seafood options are available).

In the late afternoon after some tea, enjoy the river safari, a peaceful way to explore the backwaters and wildlife around Bentota is by traditional fishing kayak. Normally used to catch crab these vessels also make a perfect viewing platform from where to spot birds of prey, kingfishers, monitor lizards and water lilies.

By 6pm, drop back to the hotel.
